FOR MANUFACTURERS & BUYERS

A material brief.
Built around your process.

Start with what you are making. Define the material properties, evidence and practical arrangements that matter to its next use.

Discuss a requirement

SPECIFICATION BEFORE SELECTION

More than a
polymer name.

“Recycled PP” or “natural HDPE” is a starting point. Your application supplies the detail.

Share the manufacturing process, the finished product and the requirements that are essential. An existing specification or incumbent grade reference can help explain the brief. Separate fixed requirements from characteristics that may be assessed through a trial.

Whether the enquiry concerns pellets, flakes or regrind, composition and preparation matter alongside physical form. Describe what you need and the evidence required to approve a proposed material.

YOUR BUYING BRIEF

The details worth sharing.

  • Polymer family, grade and physical form
  • Application and manufacturing process
  • Colour, appearance and performance requirements
  • Melt flow with units, test temperature and load
  • Relevant moisture, contamination and composition limits
  • Origin, recycled-content and documentation requirements
  • Trial quantity, ongoing demand, destination and timing

A PRACTICAL QUALIFICATION PROCESS

Agree what good looks like.

Make the basis for evaluating a proposed material clear before treating a general description as an approved specification.

TECHNICAL

Define the criteria.

Use relevant properties, units, test methods and acceptable ranges. Explain any particular appearance, processing or end-use conditions.

EVIDENCE

Agree the documents.

Identify the technical data, batch information, origin declarations and representative samples needed for your assessment.

COMMERCIAL

Confirm the supply detail.

Discuss quantity, packaging, lead time, price and delivery arrangements. Availability is confirmed for each individual enquiry.

Are the material guides a stock list?

No. They explain polymer families, general applications and useful enquiry details. Specific grades, quantities and availability need individual confirmation.

Can I request samples or technical data?

Include the sample quantity and documents your approval process needs. Their availability and the qualification arrangements are matters to agree for the proposed material.

What if my application has special requirements?

State them at the start. Food contact and other specialist uses need appropriate supporting evidence; a polymer family or recycled-material description does not establish suitability.

How should I describe recurring demand?

Include your initial trial quantity, expected ongoing consumption, delivery location and preferred schedule. State any seasonal variation or required packaging.
